Built in 1461 by the Marqués de Villena upon an ancient Muslim fortification, it is declared a National Monument and dominates the city from the height of the hill. Fiesta de la Vendimia and the Cabalgata del Vino: August, the month of wine

If your visit coincides with summer, you cannot miss the Fiesta de la Vendimia de Jumilla, declared of Regional Tourist Interest and organised since 1972. During several days in mid-August (in 2026, approximately from the 14th to the 23rd), the city fills with grape treading, parades, complimentary tastings and live music. The crowning moment is the Gran Cabalgata del Vino, in which the participants throw more than 50,000 litres of red wine through the streets of the centre, dyeing the entire city purple. It is, without doubt, one of the most spectacular wine festivals in all of Spain.
